Cache Valley Civic Ballet presents Coppelia, a charming, light-hearted, romantic story ballet that is beloved by all ages. The New York Times called Coppélia "story ballet done to perfection." Coppelia is the delightful tale of a mad inventor and his life-like doll, Coppelia, who sits on the balcony of a magical toy shop all day, apparently reading and never speaking to anyone. A boy named Franz falls deeply in love with the doll and wants to marry her, even though he is already engaged to Swanhilda. Swanhilda sees Franz throwing kisses at Coppelia and becomes jealous. Swanhilda soon learns that Coppelia is actually a doll that belongs to the toy maker Doctor Coppelius. She decides to impersonate the doll, in order to win the love of Franz. Chaos ensues, but all is soon forgiven. Swanhilda and Franz make up and get married. The marriage is celebrated with several festive dances.
