A Brief History

The Cache Valley Civic Ballet (CVCB) Company was formed in 1982 to promote the study of ballet as a fine art; to offer qualified training in ballet and advancement of professional ability; to provide a medium for the development of dancers, choreographers, designers, and musicians; and to provide education in the art of ballet.

In 1986 Cache Valley Civic Ballet Company, with the assistance of Artistic Director Sandra Emile, established the official school for the Cache Valley Civic Ballet Company. The Cache Valley School of Ballet combines the company's dedication to children and ballet to provide excellent training for a lifetime of dance. Cache Valley School of Ballet students have been accepted at many University Dance Programs and professional companies.

The Cache Valley Civic Ballet proudly presents three productions annually, providing opportunities to showcase the company's principle and local dancers of all ages. Cache Valley Civic Ballet often invites Guest Artists to perform with the company; bringing with them the occasion to advance the company's training and exposure to the professional realm of ballet.

The Cache Valley Civic Ballet involves approximately 100 dancers and community players who compose the ensemble casts. Through the years entire families have been major forces in the success of the Cache Valley Civic Ballet productions.

During the past years THE NUTCRACKER has become a traditional event as Cache Valley Civic Ballet's annual holiday production. Each Spring other classic ballets are chosen which have included Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Copellia, Peter and the Wolf, and A Mid Summer Night's Dream, and Firebird .

In October, 2001, the Cache Valley Civic Ballet enthusiastically introduced Dracula as a third annual company performance. The performance was selected by Salt Lake Magazine as the second hottest event of the season in 2002. We look forward to future Halloween performances of Dracula.

Because dance is a performing art, those interested are encouraged to audition for the CVCB company and for specific roles in upcoming CVCB productions.
